We were thrilled to launch yesterday ParisApps, the first ever discovery guide for apps that are Paris related which is part of a project of the City of Paris called (also) ParisApps, an initiative to promote paris related mobile apps

App stores are known to be a hard place to browse and discover apps that relevant to a particular need. And finding apps for your city is a big need. Such need can't be adress with just a search engine, or a featured section. Because it is too deep, too rich and too important.

This is why Discovery apps for cities are important and we hope other cities will go the same way.

We were asked by the City of Paris to build this app with them. And we naturally accepted, because vertical discovery is one of our key driver to growth and because we believe people will want more of those. We felt this when we launched apps4kids the first discovery app for kids apps on android

So what is unique about ParisApps?

• Deep unique browsing categories
• Unique app reviews
• Permanently updated app catalog
• Rich geographic appmixes
• Smart search engine (that will pull paris related app first, whatever the query)

Will that work? Well for now it is doing great, it is already top 5 app in the Lifestyle category and top 40 free app in France

For now this is just an iOS app, but an Android version is coming soon.

ps: sorry for non french readers but this app is designed for parisian citizens or french people visiting paris a lot paris. We have plans to translate and adapt it for non french citizens.
