How to successfully market your iPhone app? an interesting case study coming from France

update: cool! this has landed to presentation of the day on slideshare!

One of the top selling app in the French app store Ratp [itunes getap.ps/ratplite and getap.ps/ratppremium] (the Paris underground) has decided to open the box and share some of their experience on how to market a successful app.

You can find below the study created by FaberNovel (who is also behind the app)

This is an interesting study, the data regarding price elasticity will be useful. I wish it was extended to more apps. Yesterday we published some data on the sales progression of Tweetie. But more would be very useful for app developers.

  • Also interesting to learn: an app should be run like a business. It is not just about the product (the app) but the 4Ps (known in marketing for product, place, promotion, price)
  • Also a very interesting observation on how Apple ranking is working: according to FaberNovel and their own internal data, Apple considers the last 4 days of sales.

disclosure: RATP is a getap.ps partner [our link tracking technlogy for apps]
