Brands invading the App Store: Avatar, Nissan, RelaisChateaux, Marc Levy, Pyrex

If you have not noticed yet, Brands are getting into your iPhone via smart Apps. And the trend will accelerate in 2010. It won't mean they will also bring great apps, but they will try, since the entry point of an iPhone is not your Browser (right Google?)

This week has seen a bunch of new branded apps:

1. Relais&Chateaux bring their own booking app getap.ps/RelaisChateaux
2. Nissan brings a fun game to win a car getap.ps/proveit
3. Marc Levy, the super famous book writer, brings his new book and his universe into a new app getap.ps/le1erjour
4. Avatar, the hottest movie of 2009, the iPhone of movies, is coming to your iPhone with a Game (created by Gameloft) : getap.ps/Avatar
5. Pyrex is launching a new app around cooking (of course) getap.ps/cooknshare

Let us know, if you see interesting branded apps out there.

Pretty cool, if you loved the movie. Get it here (free)

All the branded apps: updated (from @jsmakr )

A few weeks ago, we created a full selection of all the branded apps in the App Store. But things have evolved since and the number has gone up to more than 200. The list comes from the great work from Johnny Makkar that we completed with the new Lancome App . We bet this will be a fast growing category as more and more brands are coming in.

Every Brand will have an app: Jamie Oliver Gets an iPhone App.

App kickback: Pepsi self admitting their mistake

It didn't take long. About 24h after the release of Pepsi, "Before you score" app the backlash was too strong. The app took a big smash and Pepsi had to apologize. Which they did. on Twitter. At least they get credit for doing this

Amp tweeted, “Our app tried 2 show the humorous lengths guys go 2 pick up women. We apologize if it’s in bad taste & appreciate your feedback,” and even included a self-deprecating “pepsifail” hashtag.

This is a case on how being too cool, sometimes is not cool.
