Announcing the ★★ App Star Awards 2 ★★ in partnership with 360iDev conference

We received so many requests, that we could not ignore it. So we decided to organize a new edition of the App Star Awards, our contest to highlight and reward new and brilliant upcoming apps.

The first edition was a real blast and our winners (and even finalists) really enjoyed this contest and the energy it gave them to become real top apps in the App Store. We even enjoyed ourself watching a major cellular operator picking our name for their own contest :)

This time organize the App Star Awards 2 in partnership with 360iDev, one of the largest iPhone developer event in the USA, where we'll announce on stage the results of this great contest (on April 12th in San Jose)

★★★★★

If you are an app developer and want to pre-register just go here
You will be notified by email when submissions open (march 21st)

★★★★★

Only one rule, any app is eligible as long as it is not yet submitted to Apple by March 26th (it has to be a new app, and a legit * no jailbreak * app) - rules here

★
Rewards, Rewards, Rewards

We changed a little bit the format of the rewards: last time we noticed that what mattered most to developers was the spotlights they were receiving before and after the contest and less the cash that was, let's say it, mainly symbolic. To make things a little sexier each winner will go home with one iPad but also a free ad campaign that will have more importance in this edition (rules here
So this time we gathered an awesome line up of media sponsors that will altogether provide tremendous boost to the winners, once their app is in the app store.
★ Top buzz and Uber-Jury

We also have a fantastic line up of partners who are going to help us make as much (quality) noise as possible around this contest. Those include
And finally we have a wonderful group of people constituting our Uber-Jury (those who will decide who win). Most of the previous jury came back and some new faces have joined:

Robert Scoble, Chris Pirillo, Patrick Jordan, Jyri Engestrom (Jaiku), Frank Gruber (Tech Coktail), Mike Butcher, Marshall Kirkpatrick (Read Write Web), Zee (The NextWeb), Raven Zachary, Jeff Scott (148apps)......Just to name a few! If you want we got them all in a twitter list here

A few more will be announced soon

We also want to thank Kettle for their awesome work on the design of the App Star 2 site.

So! for now that's all. Pre-registration are open. Submissions will start March 21st. So if you are planning an app for soon, you probably want to hold one for the App Star Awards!

We leave you with this great Rap-Star created by our friends at UsTwo

App Star Awards: if you win, this is where and how your app will be showcased

We got probably the best spot [right after the 1st panel with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey on Day 1] to present the 3 winners of the App Star Awards at LeWeb conference on stage, in front of more than 1800 top savvy internet users, bloggers, journalists and more with live streaming.

I don't know. But if i was about to release an iPhone app, i would not think twice and i would rush to submit my app

Announcing the App Star awards ★★★★★ a contest for rewarding brilliant upcoming apps

update: read the awesome coverage on TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and TheNextWeb

Today AppsFire is happy to announce the launch of the App Star awards in partnership with SFR/AppliStore, LeWeb, TechCrunch, ReadWriteWeb and The NextWeb.

What is this and why is this coo l?

There are a lot of developers out there working on new apps and the App Star award is the first app contest for Apps that are not yet in the App Store. Yes, we want to highlight brilliant and interesting apps and put them under the spotlight before they even reach the App Store.

Someone around us called it the Off-Broadway competition :)

The idea is very simple: if you have an app coming (legit, no jailbreak), submit a clip of 30 secs on Youtube with a demo. Will select 30 of the best (10 in each category: games, entertainment, utility and other) and our uber-Jury will review each one and point to 3 winners.

The details of the timeline and rules are here. But basically we'll open submission on november 23rd, right now only pre-registration (here) to be notified are open. We'll announce the winners on stage at LeWeb conference, the largest web conference in Europe, December 9th.

What will winners get out of this?

We wanted to give a symbolic reward to each winner which will get a check of $1500 and free ad campaignw with participating partners (once the app reaches the app store).

But beyond the reward, we believe this event will bring recognition to the winners (and pre-selected candidates too) by putting them under prestigious spotlights and by being reviewed by a prestigious set of people composing our Jury which are some of the finest worldwide experts about the iPhone.

For information All videos demos submitted will be g on our video channel and users will also be able to rate

The Uber-Jury

Michael Arrington, Robert Scoble, Marshall Kirkpatrick, Louis Gray, Loic Le Meur, Daniel Brusilosvky, Zee (The NextWeb), Jean Francois Caillard (SFR), Patrick Jordan (Just Another iPhone blog) and many more will be part of our jury. A real dream team. Yes, in spite of their busy agendas,  they will review your app, if you are selected.

A nice way to start, isn't it?

Why did we create this event?

AppsFire is all about discovering great apps. We love to see users sharing their apps, and we love to see developers using our tools to improve the way they get discovered. But we believe that great apps should be able to get discovered even before they reach the app store. As a matter of fact, many developers like to tease about their work (rightly so) before they launch. Discovering apps should be fun and rewarding.

We hope this event will contribute to help a little.

And why not say it in music! Here is the Rap Star

We are very excited about this event and we wanted to have something extra fun for it. Our friends at Mouthoff (an app we LOVE) have created a fantastic musical clip on the App Star. A great rap song on the theme "Are you an App Star or a Rap Star". I am sure you'll find it fun and will want to share it.

That's All, Good luck to all participants!!

Oh yes, and if you like it, Twit it here!
