11 App Store and Android Market random predictions for 2011 [part 1]
We're expert in app discovery and recommendations. Not in predictions. But let's give a shot as this fascinating darwinian, fast moving spaceWe re also rating each one of them.
Let's start with Apple App Store/iPhone/iPad

- [99.9% chances] The App Store will reach 500k apps at least. The average price will still be around 2.5$ and the ratio Paid/Free won't move so much. The App Store will get to $3/4 billion in cumulated paid transaction
- [80%] Apple will finally introduce recurring billing, solving a big pain for charging subscription. Cool for news, digital content, and dating services
- [100%] That still won't solve the way the newspaper industry is approaching the iPad and iPhone but that will help a bit
- [100%] More and more Apps will be acquired: prime targets in line Instagram, Bump, Pulse and tones of games
- [200%] Yes, Verizon will get the iPhone. At last [not really a prediction]
- [100%] The iPhone 5 will be the only iPhone killer of the market, although android devices are getting damn good
- [80%] iPad2 will get so much attention and success that other tablets will be dwarfed in market share
- [70%] Apple will create a killer-feature packed MobileMe service (that will compete with DropBox)
- [80%] Angry Birds won t remain #1 paid app. But will be replaced by another Game, by Rovio.
- [70%] The Mac app Store will be mostly about casual/hard core games and productivity tools, but won't get as successful as the iphone/ipad app store
- [60%] One compelling HTML5 app will get a breaking success and will capture attention from developers away from the app store
- [90%] In spite of the App Store massive success iTunes will keep bugging users and will remain the host of the Apps
